Rapid antigen test and PCR test are both taken via a nasopharyngeal swab. However, the evaluation technique differs. In a PCR test, DNA is multiplied in a laboratory in a chain reaction (polymer chain reaction) and thus raised above the detection limit. An antigen test detects protein fragments of the coronavirus rather than DNA. No multiplication of the virus material is performed for this. Both methods detect whether an infection with SARS-CoV-2 is present.
In contrast to the rapid test and the PCR test, the antibody test does not detect the virus itself but provides information on whether antibodies are present or whether an infection with SARS-CoV-2 has already occurred in the past. A drop of blood taken from a finger is used as the sample material.
In our centers, we offer all three tests, although not all types of tests are currently available in all cities.
All test results are available online. For antigen rapid tests and antibody tests, this is already the case after 20 minutes. For the PCR test, please refer to the page for Hamburg, Berlin or Dortmund for the time period until the result is available.
For data protection reasons, the results can only be accessed for 24 hours. During this time, they can be downloaded.
Yes, your certificate will automatically be issued in German and English.

In principle, people from 5 years of age may be tested. However, parents must book and be present at the appointment for children under 14. Children over 14 years of age may book a test and attend the appointment independently with a declaration of consent from their legal guardian.
If your test result is positive, you must immediately go into domestic quarantine. Since this is a notifiable disease according to the Infection Protection Act, we will immediately inform the public health department. They will contact you to coordinate the further procedure and to ensure that your contacts can be traced. By preparing a list of your contacts, you can help make this process easier and faster. In addition, the results of your positive rapid antigen test should be verified by PCR testing. In case of a positive test result, you will receive further information afterwards.

Follow the guidelines of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), especially the AHA+C+L rules: Keep your distance, follow hygiene rules, wear everyday masks, use corona app and ventilate regularly.
Whenever you want to be sure about a possible infection with the coronavirus. Especially if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms. In addition, testing is strongly recommended before meeting family and friends, visiting hospitals and nursing homes, or returning to work.
If infection has occurred within 72 hours prior to testing, the viral load may be too low to detect the virus when the test is performed. In this case, a negative test result does not represent a definite exclusion of Covid 19 infection, but rather a health status at the time the test was performed. This situation is the same for both rapid antigen tests and PCR tests.
Therefore, it makes sense to wait 72 hours after a known risk contact before performing the test.
For PCR and rapid antigen tests, a sample is taken from a nasopharyngeal swab in the nasopharynx. In the case of the rapid test, this is evaluated immediately afterwards at the center. The result is available online 20 minutes later. With the PCR test, the result is evaluated in the laboratory and can be retrieved within 24 hours.
In contrast to the PCR and rapid test, a drop of blood is taken from a finger in the antibody test. This is evaluated in the center immediately after collection. Here, too, the result can be retrieved after 20 minutes.
In very rare cases, an invalid result may occur. In such a case, we will inform you immediately and you can repeat the test free of charge.
